This office is responsible for the academic policies and regulations of Western New Mexico University.

The Office of Academic Affairs also oversees:

• Graduate programs and assistantships, graduation activities
• WNMU Museum
• J. Cloyd Miller Library
• Curriculum and Instruction
• University Planning Council
• All Faculty and Adjuncts

“stakeholder” includes not only policy makers and governing board members but also all groups or persons who “paid in” or made an investment in higher education. All persons who are the beneficiaries of higher education, including graduates and employers.

Higher Education Department (HED)

HED Oversees:

• Course Numbering System
• General Education Curriculum
• New Undergraduate and Graduate Degree Program
• Classification of Instructional Programs (CIP) CIP code Approval
• NM Advanced Placement Policy
• Dual Credit

Higher Learning Commission (HLC)
HLC accredits degree-granting post-secondary educational institutions in the North Central region.
